- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, conducting market research and supplier assessments to ensure reliability, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
- Establish and maintain relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts, terms, and pricing agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.
- Monitor supplier performance, conduct regular supplier evaluations, and address any issues or concerns related to product quality, delivery, or service.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including production, inventory, and sales teams, to develop procurement plans and forecasts based on business needs and demand projections.
- Generate purchase orders, review purchase requisitions, and coordinate procurement activities to ensure timely acquisition of materials and supplies.
- Monitor inventory levels, reorder points, and lead times to optimize stock levels and minimize stockouts or excess inventory.
- Analyze pricing trends, market conditions, and supplier offerings to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and payment conditions with suppliers to achieve cost reductions and maximize value for the company.
- Implement cost control measures and monitor procurement budgets to ensure adherence to financial targets and objectives.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and company policies related to procurement, including ethical sourcing practices and environmental sustainability.
- Conduct quality inspections and audits of incoming materials and products to verify conformance to specifications and quality standards.
- Address quality issues or non-compliance issues with suppliers and implement corrective actions as needed to maintain product integrity and customer satisfaction.
- Identify opportunities for supplier development and collaboration, working with suppliers to improve processes, product quality, and innovation.
- Stay informed about industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in procurement and supply chain management, and incorporate relevant advancements into procurement strategies.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, supply chain management, procurement, or a related field; additional certifications such as CIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply) are advantageous.
- Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the FMCG industry or a related sector.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a data-driven approach to decision-making and process improvement.
- Proficiency in procurement software systems, ERP systems, and Microsoft Office suite.
- Knowledge of procurement best practices, supply chain principles, and industry regulations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
