Job DescriptionJob GoalThe Director of Arabic, Islamic, and Emirati Achievement is a pivotal leadership role within GEMS Dubai American Academy. This position requires a deep understanding of the Arabic language, Islamic studies, and Emirati culture, as well as a commitment to advancing educational and cultural goals within the organization. The Director will spearhead initiatives to promote Arabic language proficiency, foster a strong understanding of Islamic principles, and celebrate Emirati heritage and achievements. The Director will assist the Superintendent/CEO, Head of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation, Principals, Assistant Principals, and Heads of Department in shaping a vision and direction for Arabic, Islamic, and Emirati Achievement setting out very high expectations and with a clear focus on student achievement and progress.Interfaces withThe Superintendent/CEO, Head of Teaching, Learning, and Innovation, Principals, Assistant Principals and Heads of Department (Arabic and Islamic), and K-12 teams.Key AccountabilitiesKey Accountabilities
  • Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
  • Ensure that GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times.
  • Model and encourage DAA’s Culture of Kindness and perpetuate the school’s mission and values.
  • Co-construct and lead implementation of an action plan to improve the Arabic and Islamic provision and Emirati achievement at DAA that is in alignment with DAA’s strategic plan.
  • Use data from various sources such as lesson observations, internal and external data, and KHDA feedback to monitor the effectiveness of the action plan and adjust as necessary to ensure all goals are met.
  • Ensure each Emirati student at DAA is receiving appropriate support and challenge in all curricular areas, but most specifically in literacy, and is sufficiently prepared to move throughout the grade levels and transition to post-secondary education.
  • Assist the Superintendent/CEO, Head of Teaching, Learning and Innovation, Principals, Assistant Principals, and Heads of Department in self-review and evaluation, and in the effective planning and management of resources to secure improvements.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or Arabic language (mandatory), Islamic Degree (preferable), or other relevant field with a teaching qualification
  • Extensive knowledge of the Arabic language, Islamic culture, and Emirati heritage.
  • Minimum of 5 years leadership experience
  • Fluency in Arabic (MSA) and English languages is required.
  • Ability to communicate, collaborate effectively, lead and develop large groups of educators

  • Proven impact in curriculum development, program management, and educational leadership.
EducationDegree in Education or Arabic language (mandatory), Islamic Degree (preferable)
