- Collaborate with Delta IQ – Curriculum Engineering team to build curriculum maps, course syllabuses and CSOs (Content Standards and Objectives) for personalized learning experiences.
- Aggressively grow school’s digital repository of STEAM-based Social Science lessons (for Grade Level 01-10), which must be innovative, current, broad, balanced, coherent, standards-based, and differentiated in nature.
- Partner with ICT Leads to create digital Social Science learning resources.
- Establish KPIs for Department of Social Sciences and use school attainment data to monitor KPI status.
- Work with faculty to gamify student engagement for Foundations, Mezzanine and GT learning programs to maximize the potential of emerging, proficient and advanced learners, respectively.
- Audit teaching and learning practices as per QHSE (Quality, Health, Safety and Environment) policies via walk through and peer-to-peer observations, self-reflections, scrutiny of student work and quality of assessments.
- Close department gap between Delta Scholars and at risk students as well as liaise with School Counselor and Psychologist to create Social Science resources for SEND students.
- Advocate for development of Social Science enrichment activities to enhance the learning curve.
- Develop sound processes to steer department performance around data projections and outcomes.
- Coordinate annual department improvement priorities and budgets with internal managers to ensure
- Interface with the school’s QIP (Quality Improvement Program) panel for continuous refinement of processes relating to curriculum, organization operations and pastoral functions.
- Lead, manage and coordinate department work to create a competitive and collaborative atmosphere.
- Encourage faculty to provide pedagogical pipelines, novel learning engagement initiatives and adaptive learning activities for all learner types.
- Aggressively grow a team of innovative and enterprising Social Science instructors through periodic EPEs (Employee Performance Evaluations), performance advising sessions and new hire requisitions.
- Participate in recruitment and onboarding of new department faculty members.
- Understand and assist in continuous training of teaching-learning processes and process refinements.
- Monitor implementation of OPDs (Operating Policies and Directives) by all members of the department.
- Work with stakeholders to understand key developments in Delta English School’s business operations.
- Oversee ordering, maintenance and accountability for department teaching and learning resources.
- Collaborate with faculty to embellish learning spaces with updated Social Science posters and bulletins.
- Enforce and monitor use of QHSE policies and procedures at all times by all members of the department, including appropriate risk assessments when necessary.
- Manage department budgets effectively and maintain an updated inventory on department equipment.
- Master’s in History, Geography, Economics and/or Political Science from an accredited and reputed institution
- Bachelor’s in Education from an accredited and reputed institution
- 7+ years of High School Social Science teaching experience in CBSE school(s)
- Passion for Social Science and ability to convey this enthusiasm to teachers and students
- Ability to stay abreast of current or new developments in the subject and curriculum
- Ability to effectively lead the creation of medium to large Social Science teaching and learning projects
- Awareness of demands in teaching students and ability to foster high Social Science academic achievement
- Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to challenging and dynamic environments
- High energy, confidence, tireless commitment and a strong sense of ownership, urgency and drive
- Proven track record of driving successful teaching and learning initiatives
- Expert user of productivity tools required for project management
- Expert internal and external presentation and meeting facilitation skills
- Expert written and verbal communication skills to various audiences, including executive management
- Command in ICT literacy with ability to leverage e-learning tools
- Commitment to CPD through self-research and external course offerings
- Commitment to the schools’ all-round ethos, including its co-curricular activities and pastoral approach
- Master's or Doctorate in Education from an accredited and reputed institution
- 2+ years as Head of Department or equivalent in CBSE school(s)
- Served as external CBSE AISSE and AISSCE contributor and/or examiner
- Ability to translate a long-term vision into near-term, executable plans – prioritizes and triages effectively, deciding which projects to work on and deliver first.
- Data-driven and “quantitative” mentality – grounded, detail-oriented and always backs up ideas with facts that detail how such ideas translate into quantitative and qualitative successes.
