Specialist to our team. This vital role focuses on enhancing the literacy
skills of our students, crucial for their academic and personal growth.*Job Overview:* As our Reading Specialist, you will play a fundamental role
in nurturing a culture of reading and literacy that is both inclusive and
expansive. This full-time position is designed for someone with a robust
background in literacy education who is ready to make a significant impact.*Roles and Responsibilities:**Implement Reading Programs: *Develop and oversee the execution of
comprehensive reading strategies that enhance fluency, comprehension, and
interest among students.*Collaborative Development:* Work closely with teachers and administrative
staff to create effective reading interventions and consistent program
evaluations.*Student Assessments:* Conduct detailed assessments of student reading
levels, providing personalized support and making adjustments to teaching
strategies as necessary. Manage documentation of Student Literacy Profiles
and Goals.*Data Analysis *– Analyze internal and external data to inform instruction
within the classroom, and for intervention/support/enrichment of ELA goals.*Professional Development: *Lead workshops and training sessions for
teachers, sharing innovative reading instruction techniques and the latest
educational research to enhance teaching efficacy.*Library Management:* Curate and maintain a dynamic school library
environment that promotes an enthusiasm for reading among students.*Community Engagement:* Foster strong relationships with parents and the
wider school community to support a home-school reading culture.*Targeted Support: *Provide specialized guidance for students in small groups
or on a one-to-one basis, focusing on those who require additional help.*Desired Qualification, Skills and Experience:*
  • A Post-Graduate Degree in a relevant field such as Education, or M.Ed
Literacy Education.
  • At least 4-6 years of experience as a Reading Specialist across multiple
grade levels, preferably within an IB school setting.
  • Storytelling prowess, adept at engaging and inspiring young readers.
  • Proficient in managing library resources, ensuring they are aligned with
the latest curriculum needs.
  • Experience with the American CCSS for ELA and the science of reading.
